The National Council of Jewish Women in New York established in 1962. The NCJW’s involvement in the issue of domestic and sexual violence includes both grassroots and national efforts to protect women and children. NCJW mobilizes its members to be effective advocates on a broad range of social issues including domestic violence, child welfare and hate crimes. On a national level, NCJW helped win passage of the Violence Against Women Act in 1994 and its subsequent Reauthorization in the year 2000.
